Life trilogy-Views of a Biologist, a Psychologist and a Sufi

A biologist says that Life is evolutionary exuberance; it is what happens when expanding populations of sensing, active organisms knock up against each other and work things out. Life is animals at play. It is a marvel of inventions for cooling and warming, collecting and dispersing, eating and evading, wooing and deceiving.

A psychologist says that Life means to contribute to the whole. Individuals are bound by a triple tie-to the earth on which one must live, to the human species with which one must interact, and to a sex. From these ties derive the three categories of problems of life.

A Sufi says that the point of Life is not to get anywhere; it is to notice that you are, in the moment of creation. The point of life is therefore to create-who and what you are and then to experience it.

When we look around we see Life much more according to the biologist’s view-eating, evading, wooing and deceiving and less according to Sufi's view of creating and procreating. Why?

  1. We have deviated from the actual purpose of life that is to serve the fellow beings. The pleasure we gain from serving mankind is immense.
I believe the main reason of this deviation is lack of knowledge. To actually get the true meaning of life we have to attain the highest form of knowledge from which all good and just things derive utility and value. We humans are bound to pursue the good, but no one can succeed in that pursuit without proper reasoning which allows for true knowledge.

  2. "Noticing" -- I like this word...

    speaks of observing dynamics

    even deeper than feelings...yet feeling,

    not just watching,

    powerfully delicate happenings

    and just knowing

    you're somehow in the mix.

Maybe you're hearing the silent voice

    from many waters away -

or doing some bit of hefty translating

    without words

without the need to be seen.

Paying attention...A way of finding out

    what matters, what counts,

    What's needed for another...

and for you yourself as well -

    Finding out what fits

    or needs fitting together...

    through some other pathway

    which reason never knew...

    Inside me or inside you.

Praying into the heart of God

    letting the liquid gold flow

    into drawing, dancing, singing

    flying, sailing, smiling,

    letting the truest words flow...

Then, just getting out of Love's way.

  5. hmmm...Dar Sahib....

May be...because people do some courses as they learned it after their birth and so its called aging.

    LIke eating...walking...smiling and making faces.

These courses human learned from their mothers or someone close.

hmmm..they learned to read and to write from their teachers which come forward after human got every learning from their parents.

Even then while teachers are in ones live, parents remain in contact.

Which means that human also learned how to deal with two teachers at a time.

Unfortunately.....all the teachers come in contact during one's life are just BIOLOGISTS type.

hmmm....it is human responsibility to dwell into all kind of teachers he/she can attain during his/her life depends on one's own thrust of aging with learning.

And thats why we only see Biologists type of LIFE around us as nobody wants to do extra work here. Nobody wants to think a little bit more or spend a little bit more time on learning.

hmmm....I guess it is how world is.....since its birth....

Adam took the forbidden fruit to become immortal not even thinking twice about his future....may be because he want the easy way out too.....

And thats the problem with us....hmmmm

    I like your post...thanks !

How I would love more from you on this Dar Sahib! And thank you for the encouragement...this one easily fell into place with a little honest work, given your values and your enigmatic presentation...yet am not sure I've captured at all what you're getting at here?

Also more dialogue from you, Thinking...really thoughtful comment in keeping with your name here :)

  7. Thinking thanks. The writing style which you have developed, where you draw analogies is very interesting.

  9. This post and discussion inspired me and so here is my "answer" to your question...(the poem was only HOW I get to the Sufi place not an answer)
